Football stats-focused Twitter account @Between_TL have recently been trying to decide their Championship team of the season so far, by allowing social media users to decide which players should be included in the team via Twiter polls. Livermore missed out on a place in this team of the season, as his teammate Romaine Sawyers was selected by more voters in the poll, which can be seen here.

Some Baggies supporters have been responding to this poll result negatively, with one West Brom fan claiming that Livermore “is miles better than Sawyers”. What do we think?

Sawyers’ passing ability has been a standout attribute of his for the Baggies this season. The midfielder, who has earned 26 caps for St.Kitts and Nevis in his career according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, has played an average of 64 passes per game as well as an average of 2.7 long balls per game in the Championship this season. Additionally, Sawyers’ pass success percentage currently sits at 90.2% for the 2019/20 league campaign, according to WhoScored.com.

Sawyers has played a higher number of passes per game than any other West Brom player this season. Furthermore, only two Baggies players have played a higher number of long balls per game than Sawyers this season, while the 28-year-old midfielder has also currently got a higher pass success percentage than any other Baggies player this term, according to WhoScored.

It may be understandable why some of the Twitter users who voted in this poll chose to include the 28-year-old in this team of the season ahead of Livermore, considering how much his passing ability has been on show this season.
