Some West Brom fans have been reacting on social media to some post-match comments that were made by Romaine Sawyers following The Baggies’ 0-0 draw at the weekend.

The Baggies failed to earn all three points from a second straight Championship fixture this past weekend, following their 0-0 draw with Swansea City on Saturday. The Baggies’ recent 0-0 draw with Swansea comes a week after the Championship title contenders suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss at The Hawthorns versus relegation-battling Wigan Athletic.

In his post-match interview, which was recently shared by West Brom’s official Twitter account, Sawyers emphasised the importance of The Baggies’ remaining nine Championship fixtures, stating that they’ve got “nine finals” left to play before the season is finished.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who is valued at £3.6 million (as per Transfermarkt), went on to state that achieving promotion “is in (their) hands”, alluding to the fact that despite failing to win their last two Championship games, West Brom currently sit six points clear of third-placed Fulham and will achieve automatic promotion to the Premier League, should they win their remaining Championship games.

Some Baggies supporters have been reacting to Sawyers’ recent post-match comments on social media in the aftermath of Saturday’s 0-0 draw. Read the posts from some West Brom fans reacting to the 28-year-old midfielder’s recent post-match comments in the tweets below.

Who is the oldest player to make an appearance in the Championship this season?

What do we think?

It may be fair to say that promotion is still within West Brom’s control, considering that they currently sit six points ahead of third-placed Fulham, their nearest challengers currently sitting outside of the Championship’s automatic promotion places

This six-point lead, in addition to Sawyers’ attempts to reassure fans with his recent post-match comments showing that he and his teammates understand the importance of their remaining nine Championship fixtures, may relax the concerns of some Baggies supporters, after West Brom have failed to win both of their last two Championship games.

However, it may also be understandable for some West Brom fans to feel concerned going into their final nine league games of the season, having failed to win their last two games. Sawyers and his teammates may need to start delivering positive results on the pitch again if they are to truly successfully relieve West Brom fans’ concerns.
