When Rangers beat Ross County on the weekend, there was one face that was less than familiar on the teamsheet. Matt Polster was named in the starting lineup, despite only making seven prior appearances this season.
The defender, who is valued at £540k (as per Transfermarkt), obviously did enough to help the Gers earn a clean sheet, with the side winning the match 1-0.
However, after the match, there were many Rangers fans who admitted that they were eager to see him play in midfield. They believe that centre-midfield is his most natural position, and are ready for Steven Gerrard to give the American a chance to play there.
Not a fan of dropping players left, right and centre but with Jack and Arfield injured, Davis and Kamara both off it. Polster is a CDM (RB) with the awareness and dig to be pushing for a chance there.

When Tav is fit, is there a legitimate case for trying Polster in our midfield?

I’d rather polster in midfield and Patterson at right back today.

That midfield is way too soft for an SPFL away match. I’d rather have Polster in midfield and Patterson at RB.

Another fan suggests that he could play on the right of the midfield, while another is just happy to see the player in the starting eleven altogether.
patterson should be RB and polster RM in my opinion

Where should Matt Polster start matches?
Midfield
Right-back
Bench
What do we think?
With limited game time this season, it is clear that Gerrard doesn’t see Polster as a regular starter. Perhaps, over time, the English manager will begin to see what the fans do.
For now, however, we expect the player to make limited appearances.
