Yesterday’s match against Bayer Leverkusen didn’t end favourably for Steven Gerrard’s side. The matched ended 3-1 after Kai Havertz, Charles Aranguiz and Leon Bailey scored goals for Peter Bosz’s side.
Their third goal, scored by Bailey, made a Rangers comeback in the second leg of the tie a much more daunting task. With three away goals, Leverkusen would have to concede three goals at BayArena if their European run was to come to an end at the hands of Rangers.
There were many Rangers fans who felt that Bayer Leverkusen’s third goal could have been prevented though. They blame Matt Polster. The American full-back was introduced into the game in the 85th minute, with Bailey scoring in the 88th. They thought his defending was deplorable.

Matt Polster man why is he at Rangers?

Other fans compared him to the rest of Rangers’ full-backs, suggesting that Gerrard should have brought someone else on instead.
That 3rd is a gutter been decent the 2nd half. Never want to see that fraud polster in a rangers shirt again though. Folk said he’s better than tav too

Is Matt Polster Rangers' worst right-back?
Yes
No
What do we think?
It wasn’t just Rangers fans who condemned the American. Gerrard admitted that Polster should have taken ‘one for the team’ by taking out Bailey before he scored his goal.
Judging by those comments, we think the player may have gone down slightly in his manager’s estimations.
