Some Celtic fans have rushed to Bayer Leverkusen’s latest Twitter post after their win in the UEFA Europa League.

Peter Bosz’s side picked up a 3-1 win over Rangers in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Europa League recently. Kai Havertz, Charles Aranguiz and Leon Bailey had scored for Leverkusen, picking up three away goals at Ibrox.

Celtic’s 3-1 loss to Copenhagen had seen them get knocked out of the Europa League recently. The first leg in Copenhagen had ended 1-1. While Hoops fans can laugh all they want at Leverkusen beating Rangers, they should remember that they’re out of the competition already.

The Hoops do have a 13-point lead over the Gers in the Premiership table and have made it to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup – but enjoying Rangers’ defeat in the Europa League may be a touch ironic.
