It has been a relatively negative week for Rangers fans. The side dropped three points at home to Hamilton Academical in the league just a few days after being knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Hearts.
But the fans have been offered a slice of good news in the wake of these disastrous results. The club have announced that Leon King has signed a professional contract with the club, which sees him commit to Rangers until May 2022.
The 16-year-old is highly rated by the club and was key to his team winning the Alkass International Cup last season. He has also won the U18s league title during his time with Rangers’ youth programs.
When the club tweeted out this news, fans were thrilled. They have high expectations of him, believing that he can become a top player for the side.
Brilliant stuff ?

This is what we want, a team of rangers fans that understands what it means to wear that strip. Great news

This is brilliant news. What a player this young man is going to be

This is a big deal and should not be down played. This is a top youth player who has received Billy Gilmour levels of interest from down south but he has chosen to stay at Rangers. Leon King has the potential to be a star for Rangers and I hope he fulfils it.

Is Leon King ready to make the leap to the first-team?
YES! Get him in now!
Not quite, but soon.
Nowhere near ready.
Some fans even think he is ready for first-team football right now.
Congratulations now get him into the first team we need something new

What do we think?
Despite being named in the matchday squad when the Gers faced Stranraer in the Scottish Cup earlier this season, he may not quite be ready for immediate first-team action. At just 16 years of age, the defender likely has a long way to go before he fulfils his true potential.
But, with the first-team dropping points at the rate they are, perhaps testing the waters with King in the squad isn’t that farfetched of an idea?
