Fans of Rangers have been reacting on social media to the news that Steven Gerrard has not resigned, nor is he planning to, contrary to recent reports suggesting the 39-year-old is ready to quit Ibrox – as reported by MarkConfusion on Twitter.
Gerrard, who took over at Rangers in 2018, has overseen 111 games as Gers boss, with a record of 67 wins, 28 draws and 16 losses, and a points per match average of 2.06.
During his first season in charge, he guided Rangers to second place in the Scottish Premier League, finishing nine points behind Champions Celtic.
So far this term, Rangers again sit second in the league, 12 points behind Celtic, with a game in hand over their rivals. Gerrard has also seen his side reach the round of 16 in the Europa League, having qualified from a group including FC Porto, BSC Young Boys and Feyenoord, before defeating Sporting Braga in the round of 32.
However, despite impressive performances in Europe, Rangers were recently defeated by bottom-of-the-table Hearts in the quarter-finals of the SFA Cup, causing Gerrard to question whether he was the right man to take the side forward.
He stated: “It’s the worst I’ve felt by a long way since I came into the job. I need to think. The plan was to have a day off tomorrow [Sunday] but I need to think hard about where we are at as a group. I need to do some really serious thinking in the next 24-48 hours.” – as reported by the Daily Mail (via Superscoreboard)
However, according to reliable Rangers source Four Lads had a Dream, which appears to have been relayed by MarkConfusion on Twitter, there is nothing true in reports that Gerrard is ready to quit the club, something that has delighted Rangers fans.
Steven Gerrard has not resigned, he’s not planning to resign or even thinking of resigning, and all rumours to the contrary are completely false

Hope this is accurate. Last thing we need is to chop and change at this stage. In Gerrard we trust!??

Why do ppl think Gerrard would resign? He has improved @RangersFC, beaten THEM at Parkhead, last 16 @EuropaLeague, outplayed THEM in final. A certain mgr in Manchester took 3.5 yrs for 1st trophy, 6 yrs to win league. SG on the right road ?

He’s not going this season but he will next ..gerrard won’t want celtics 10 in a row to follow him thru his Mgr career he won’t get a decent post if he stays for that he’ll jump ship before then there’s only one man who can stop 10 in a row & his name is Walter ?????

What do we think?
The progress Rangers have made under Gerrard should not be understated, having been unfortunate not to beat Celtic in the 2019 Scottish League Cup final, as well as impressively reaching the round of 16 in a European competition.
Although they are yet to topple their rivals at the top of the table, there are clear signs that Gers are closing the footballing gap between the two sides, something that should only continue to shrink as long as the Liverpool legend remains in charge.
