Some Leeds United fans have been sharing negative views on social media in response to a recent tweet posted by The Athletic’s Phil Hay, attempting to provide “consolations”, following the postponement of professional football “in England until 3 April at the earliest.

The EFL released a statement on their official website on the morning of Friday the 13th of March, to announce that “the professional game in England” is to be postponed “until 3 April at the earliest”, meaning that no professional football will take place in England from now until then.

Hay took to Twitter in an attempt to provide a consolation for football fans following the postponement of English football, stating that “at least two of these weeks are the international break”.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Leeds fans would have seen a 13-day break from Championship football between their game that was set to occur versus Luton Town on Saturday the 21st of March and their game versus Blackburn Rovers which is scheduled for the third of April, as EURO 2020 qualifiers and international friendlies were originally set to take place between Thursday the 26th of March and Tuesday the 31st of March, according to The Guardian.

Some Leeds fans have responded to Hay’s recent tweet to share their unwavering disappointment at the postponement of English football “until 3 April at the earliest“. Read the reactions of some Whites fans to Hay’s recent post in the tweets below.

What do we think?

With just nine games left to be played in the 2019/20 Championship season, it may be fair to say that Leeds put themselves into a healthy position to potentially achieve promotion to the Premier League this season, with the club currently sitting in first place in the Championship table, seven points clear of third-placed Fulham.

Considering that they may have been anticipating their club officially achieving promotion to the Premier League before the end of the season, it may be understandable why some Leeds fans have been disappointed at the recent news that English football will be postponed.
