Some Celtic fans have been talking about the possibility of signing Lyndon Dykes from Livingston in the near future.
Dykes featured for Livingston in their recent 2-2 draw with Celtic. He caused problems for the Celtic defence and notched an assist for Scott Robinson’s goal which put the home side in front in the second half. Dykes was taken off in the third minute of stoppage time, making way for teammate Aymen Souda.
After the game, Read Celtic asked fans about whether they should look at signing Dykes at some point in the future.
Should Celtic try and sign Dykes in the summer?
No, he's not good enough
Why not? He's a decent player
This got many Hoops fans discussing the 24-year-old.
Not a chance. Maybe better than Bayo tbh, but he’s not good enough long term for us. Good luck to the boy though he’s a handful

No we shouldn’t. He had a decent game, nothing more. He’s a Livingston player for a reason.

Have always suggested we sign a Hartson/Sutton type player to give another option, this guy isn’t it. Hard worker at his level but not the level of those 2

Absolutely no chance. All very well raising your game against the big boys when on tv etc. Could he do it week in week out?

This season, 24-year-old Dykes has scored 12 times in all competitions for Livingston. He also has 10 assists to his name. In the Premiership, the Australia-born striker has nine goals and eight assists for the club.
This is Dykes’ first full season at the club as he was at Scottish Championship side Queen of the South last season. He joined Livingston in January 2019 but was loaned back to the Scottish Championship outfit for the second half of the campaign.
What do we think?
Dykes’ goalscoring tally is impressive this season, but he could score only 23 times in 136 games for Queen of the South – which could point towards how this season may represent a coming of age for the striker.
Celtic can look at his goalscoring numbers and go for him but there is no guarantee that he will score too many goals, as this is the first time he has scored nine goals in a single league season. They might need to wait and see if this season is a one-off or not.
