Some Southampton fans have been talking about Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt on his birthday.
Hoedt celebrates his 26th birthday today. The Saints Twitter account wished him a happy birthday on the occasion. But when the Southampton fans saw the post, they were not happy and made it clear that the defender should leave the club permanently.
Does Hoedt deserve the Southampton shirt?

Hoedt is currently on loan at Belgian club Royal Antwerp and departed Southampton on a temporary basis this past summer. At his current club, the former Lazio defender has made 24 appearances in all competitions with 20 coming in the Jupiler Pro League.

Hoedt had joined Southampton in the summer of 2017 from the Biancocelesti for £15m on a five-year deal. During his time at the club, he made 45 appearances in all competitions for the Saints, scoring once and assisting once.
He is currently valued at £7.2million by Transfermarkt.
What do we think?
Hoedt’s contract at Southampton expires in the summer of 2022. Reports have already said that the Saints are looking to let Hoedt go soon and that should come as good news for Saints fans, considering they don’t want the Dutchman back at St. Mary’s anytime soon.
