Some Celtic fans have been left talking by the latest comments that UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin gave about the suspension of the European leagues.
Ceferin insisted (via Daily Record) that the idea about domestic leagues in Europe being declared finished at this very point is ‘fake’. He went on to say that the target for UEFA is to finish the leagues.
He said: “I’ve seen and heard some again fake news that UEFA will advise leagues to finish the championships now and decide that the winners are the ones who are number one now.
“I can say that it’s not true. Our goal is to finish the leagues and we didn’t recommend anything like that to any association or league.”
Do you care about Ceferin's comments?
No, we'll win the league anyway
Yes, anything can still happen
Daily Record Sport relayed these comments on Twitter, relating the situation to Celtic and their position at the top of the table. This left many Hoops fans talking.
As a Celtic season ticket holder for over 25 years. I don’t want the title given to us. The season however can’t ever be made null and void. We need to play the remaining games when it’s possible to do so.

LOL, if the 19/20 season isnt completed, there will be no 20/21 season. The current standings will be final, one way or another…..

It’s not uefa that decides. Forget celtic for a min. Clubs like Hamilton n St mirren need their prize money

Uefa don’t have a say in it as far as I’m aware.

The Premiership was suspended last week because of the ongoing pandemic outbreak. The decision came just days before Celtic’s Old Firm derby against Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.
What do we think?
The comments of Celtic fans show that they have mixed feelings about the situation. Some don’t believe what Ceferin says, while others do want the Hoops to potentially win the Premiership by playing out the rest of the season at some point.
It remains to be seen what really happens, but Celtic will be in an advantageous situation because of their 13-point lead. If there is anyone who is closer to winning the title, it is Neil Lennon’s men. If the league goes on, they can seal the title soon by winning their games.
