Some Celtic fans have slammed Alex Rae for his comments about why the Hoops should not be handed the Premiership title.
Rae was recently talking to the Scottish Sun in an interview and he said that Celtic should not be handed the Premiership title because of the ongoing Scottish football suspension due to the pandemic outbreak.
Rae told the Scottish Sun: “In 2007/08, Rangers dropped 15 points in their last nine games to lose the league.
Do you agree with Rae's comments?
No, he's clueless
I think he's right
“In 2008/09, Celtic dropped 11 points in their last ten games, and they once had a lead at seven points.
“In 2004/05, Celtic dropped nine points in their last 10 games to drop the title despite beating Rangers to go five points clear with four games to play. That was Helicopter Sunday season.
“There are examples of teams blowing a considerable lead over the last 15 years. The problem you have with this whole thing, in Spain there’s two points of a difference between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“How do you hand over a title with eight games to go? So it doesn’t matter if it’s a point or two, whether it’s Liverpool with 25 or Celtic with 13.”
The Daily Record recently relayed Rae’s comments on Twitter. It got many Celtic fans talking and they could only fume at what Rae had to say.

As much as I love football and my club, this is so irrelevant right now. Shut it down now please…

What’s he struggling with? If there are no more games, there are no more points!

That picture perfectly encapsulates how strange a person Rae is.

The Hoops are currently 13 points clear at the top of the table and have already won the League Cup. They are in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup, with plenty of domestic glory to fight for over what remains of this season.
What do we think?
Rae is entitled to his opinion and he could be right, considering that finishing the season at this point might not help all the clubs. The gap between fourth-bottom St. Mirren and rock-bottom Hearts is just six points. Celtic do have a more convincing lead at the top, but the gap at the bottom is smaller. And ending the season at this point could be unfair for them as there could still be room for movement at the bottom.
