Some Celtic fans have been hailing a stat about midfielder Callum McGregor that has gone viral on Twitter.

McGregor was on the scoresheet for the Hoops on Wednesday evening, helping the club to a 2-2 draw against Livingston in the Premiership. A late Tom Rogic goal earned the reigning champions a point, while they still managed to stretch their lead at the top following results elsewhere.

Should McGregor be Celtic's next captain?

Absolutely, he deserves it

After the game, the Hoops’ Twitter account posted a stat about McGregor’s goalscoring haul. As a result, many Celtic fans were raving about the Scottish midfielder.

McGregor has made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops this season, with 29 of them coming in the Premiership. The Scotland midfielder has scored 12 goals and has 10 assists in all competitions for the Parkhead-based outfit.

He has now equalled his tally of 12 goals back in the 2017-18 season while playing six games more than in the current campaign.

What do we think?

While McGregor’s goalscoring tally is very good and him equalling his haul from two seasons ago is an impressive achievement, it is easy to forget that he’s played 4,386 minutes of football this season – the most that anyone has played for the Hoops this season, which shows what a committed workhorse McGregor is for the club.
