Some Birmingham City fans have been reacting to a post from Blues-focused Twitter account @BCFC_News, which recently shared the news that “a £30m deal” is allegedly close to being completed for Birmingham’s 16-year-old Jude Bellingham.

The alleged news, which states that Manchester United are prepared to “put together a package worth around £30m” to sign the 16-year-old midfielder originally surfaced via the Daily Mirror, which also claims that the Red Devils are prepared to offer the teenager “up to £100,000 a week” to commit his future to the club.

These recent reports regarding United’s alleged interest in the player come after the 16-year-old was reportedly “given a tour” of their Carrington training ground early last week.

What do we think?

It may be fair to say that Bellingham has played a significant role for the Blues throughout the 2019/20 Championship campaign. Bellingham has made a total of 32 Championship appearances for Birmingham City this season, which is a higher number of Championship games than all but four other Blues players have featured in this term.

Bellingham has also earned an average overall rating of 6.79 from his 32 Championship appearances this season according to WhoScored. Only five Birmingham City players have earned a higher average overall rating for the Blues than Bellingham for the 2019/20 Championship season.

Despite being only 16 years old, Bellingham may have proven himself as an asset for the Blues’ first team this term. It may be understandable why some Birmingham City fans have been sharing some concerns on social media regarding the potential loss of the young player of late, even for a reported transfer fee of £30m to a Premier League side.
