This week, Crystal Palace fans shared their thoughts on Max Meyer. The discussion started after @PalaceEaglesc0m asked fans for their opinions on the player.
Despite having a transfer value of £16.2 million at the time, Crystal Palace acquired Meyer on a free transfer from FC Schalke 04 back in the summer of 2018.
However, Meyer has only featured 15 times for Roy Hodgson’s side this season, seeing very limited time during the first half of the season.
Since joining the Eagles, he has only played 51 times, scoring just two goals and registering three assists. During his time at Schalke, he featured in 192 games, scoring 22 goals and assisting 23 times.
Should Max Meyer be given a chance to start for Palace?
Yes
No
However, despite his comparatively slow start in south London, these Palace fans are confident that the player has a future at the club. They can see his talent and admit that they want to see the player stay.

Give him more game time, don’t let him go

A class player who has not been given a consistent run in the team. When he started to get a run he got injured against Arsenal. He is still only 22 and he likes it at palace and Roy rates him

What do we think?
At the age of 24, Meyer, who is valued at £9 million (as per Transfermarkt), is no longer an up-and-coming prospect. He should be entering the peak of his career. However, since his move, the player’s transfer value has plummeted to just £9 million.
Therefore, for the betterment of his career, he must begin to see game time under Hodgson if he is to prove his true worth. Judging by the fan responses above, it seems they would agree with that.
However, supporters will have to wait until Meyer returns from an ankle injury before they can see him play again. And with the current suspension of all sanctioned football in England, the wait could be even longer than they would prefer it to be.
