Former Premier League footballer Michael Brown has tipped Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard to join Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City in the near future.

Brown was recently talking to Football Insider and was asked about Edouard’s future at Parkhead. The former midfielder revealed that Rodgers ‘really likes’ Edouard and the Foxes will be an ‘attractive’ option for the Frenchman. He feels that Leicester can pay for Edouard financially and ‘put him in the system’.

Would you love Edouard even if he joins Rodgers at Leicester?

No, I'd hate him for it

Brown said: “Brendan really likes him. He could go to another, maybe slightly more wealthy club, but Leicester can pay now financially, they can put him in the system.

“I reckon that young, hungry group at Leicester that’s very settled, would be very attractive to him rather than a club that’s trying to grow to come back.

“Leicester certainly would be a fit and an attractive one to further his career. You’d say Leicester would be a good next step with a manager that he knows well.”

On fire for the Hoops

This season, Edouard has been in fine form for the Hoops and you’d be wise to get your Genting bet offer to use on the striker as first scorer. He has made 45 appearances in all competitions for the Parkhead-based side. He has found the back of the net 27 times during this time, racking up 19 assists as well.

Before Saturday, which was the last team Leigh Griffiths scored a hat-trick against?

In the Premiership, Edouard has played 27 games and has scored 21 goals and has racked up 12 assists. This is his highest goalscoring tally in the league, as he could get only 14 goals last season and only six in the 2017/18 campaign.

TIF Tactics

Edouard’s goals show what an important player he is to Celtic. But Brown’s comments have some background as Edouard was linked with a move to the King Power Stadium some months ago, with the report saying that the Foxes will make a summer move for him.

The player’s current deal at Parkhead runs out in the summer of 2022 and this summer might be a good time to get maximum money out of his sale – although that would see him potentially miss out on helping Celtic seal a 10th domestic title in a row.

Considering how many goals he scores, Edouard could be key in ensuring that they win the title next season. GetFootballNewsFrance has said that the Hoops may settle for losing the Frenchman a year from now. Given his form, keeping him could be a very good option for Celtic and it could well aid their pursuit of a 10th successive Premiership title.
