Some Wolves fans have been sharing praise for 33-year-old midfielder Joao Moutinho on social media following this past weekend’s win over Spurs.

Moutinho shared a post on his Twitter account following Sunday’s victory over Tottenham in order to celebrate what the 33-year-old described as a ‘big win’. Wolves’ 3-2 win over Spurs now leaves them sitting two points above Jose Mourinho’s men in the Premier League table, level on 42 points with fifth-placed Manchester United.

The Portugal international delivered an impressive performance in Wolves’ victory over Spurs. Moutinho made a total of four successful tackles in Sunday’s game. Only Rúben Vinagre completed more successful tackles than the 33-year-old central midfielder in this game, according to WhoScored.com

In addition to that, Moutinho also made his influence known at the other end of the pitch, making a total of four key passes versus Tottenham this past weekend. Moutinho made double the amount of key passes made by any other player from either side in last Sunday’s game, according to WhoScored.

What do we think?

Moutinho showed his box-to-box ability last Sunday as he delivered a well-rounded performance in helping his side to defeat Tottenham. The impressive total of successful tackles made by the 33-year-old, in addition to the impressive total of key passes that the midfielder made this past weekend show how Moutinho can influence the game at both ends of the pitch.

Sunday’s impressive performance wasn’t an ‘out of the ordinary’ performance from Moutinho. The 33-year-old has been one of Wolves’ best players this season.

The Portuguese midfielder has made a total of six Premier League assists this season, which is currently the joint-second highest number of assists that have been made by any Wolves player in the Premier League this season.

Furthermore, Moutinho has made an average of 2.7 tackles per game in the Premier League this season, which is the second-highest number of tackles per game that have been made by any Wolves player during the 2019/20 campaign. It may be fair to say that Moutinho is showing how much quality he still retains at 33-years-old with his consistently impressive box-to-box performances.
