Supporters of Wolverhampton Wanderers have aired their delight with a club statement about the clash with Olympiakos on Thursday.
As released by the club on Tuesday, the Old Gold stated their ‘disappointment’ that the game was set to go ahead despite a formal request from the club to UEFA to postpone the game (as per Wolves), which fans loved.

Great statement Wolves. Disappointing, but no great surprise that UEFA have rejected it. Get the game won now lads.

Great to see a statement that backs everything the manager said today. Its obvious what a huge influence Nuno is at all levels. But it is on and hopefully we can go there and do a job and get back safely! ??

Should the clash with Olympiakos on Thursday be going ahead? No, should have been postponedYes, they just need to get it played |
The statement from the club came in the same day that Nuno Espirito Santo aired that he “doesn’t agree” with playing football behind closed doors and that Wolves are “not happy to go” to Olympiakos on Thursday (per Tim Spiers), in an interview with Sky Sports.
The controversy surrounding the game comes after Olympiakos’ owner, Evangelos Marinakis, tested positive for coronavirus (per The Guardian), however, Wolves fans backed the statement from the club.
My club. Dignified and honest statement, we’re all behind you ???

Great statememt and stance from the club. Disgraceful decision again from UEFA. Better hope nothing comes of it

What do we think?
As can be judged from the responses, a lot of Wolves supporters are delighted with the club statement and have given the Old Gold’s stance their full backing.
In the statement it is easy to gauge that the club is trying to act in the best interest of the staff, players and supporters (per Wolves), which is good to see but has, unfortunately, ‘been rejected’ by UEFA.
