Some West Brom fans have been buzzing on social media as the club are on the verge of completing Matheus Pereira’s permanent transfer.

The Brazilian playmaker originally arrived at The Hawthorns on a loan deal in August. However, as birminghammail.co.uk recently reported, “an obligation” for the Baggies to complete Pereira’s signing on a permanent basis “once he has featured in 30 matches for over 45 minutes or more” was included in the deal to bring the attacker to The Hawthorns.

According to birminghammail.co.uk, West Brom paid Pereira’s current parent club, Sporting CP, an initial fee of £750,000 to bring him to The Hawthorns on loan for the 2019/20 season. Once the clause obligating West Brom to complete his permanent transfer is triggered, the Baggies will subsequently pay another £8.25 million to make the 23-year-old a West Brom player.

The Brazilian has made a total of 34 appearances for West Brom in all competitions this season so far, playing a total of 45 minutes or more in 29 of his 34 West Brom appearances thus far. This means that should the playmaker feature for a total of 45 minutes or more in the Baggies’ next game, West Brom will then be obligated to complete his permanent transfer.

The impending completion of Pereira’s permanent move to The Hawthorns has had some West Brom fans talking on social media recently. Read the posts from some Baggies supporters excitedly anticipating Pereira’s permanent transfer in the tweets below.

What do we think?

The Brazilian loanee has arguably been West Brom’s best player throughout the 2019/20 Championship campaign. Pereira has scored six goals and made a total of 16 assists this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Furthermore, Pereira has earned an average overall rating of 7.34 for his 33 Championship appearances this season, according to WhoScored.com. This overall rating gives Pereira the highest average overall rating of any West Brom player for the 2019/20 Championship campaign.

Given his impressive performances for West Brom this season, it may be understandable why some Baggies supporters have been excitedly anticipating the completion of his permanent move to The Hawthorns.
