Some West Ham fans have recently been making posts to social media pleading with Declan Rice to remain a West Ham player next season.

Rice sent a message to West Ham fans via the club’s official Twitter account following the Hammers’ 3-1 victory over Southampton at the weekend. In his message, Rice states his joy at making his 100th appearance for the club, before going on to commend the club’s fans for their recent support.

The post finishes with Rice assuring the club’s fans that they will “get out of this together”, in reference to their ongoing battle against relegation from the Premier League. Following Saturday’s victory, the Hammers are currently sitting in 16th place, level on points with both Watford and Bournemouth, who sit in 17th and 18th place respectively.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been one of West Ham’s most influential players this season. Rice has played 90 minutes in each of the Hammers’ 28 Premier League games in the 2019/20 campaign thus far, accumulating an impressive total of 2520 Premier League minutes, in the process – which is a figure no other is West Ham player can match.

In addition to that, Rice has been one of West Ham’s best players this season, achieving an overall average rating of 6.95 on WhoScored.com for his efforts in the 2019/20 Premier League campaign. Only four West Ham players have achieved a higher average overall rating than Rice, according to WhoScored.com.

Some West Ham fans responded to Rice’s recent message to plead with the 21-year-old talent to remain a West Ham player next season, despite the club’s current Premier League struggles. What do we think?

Rice’s recent performances have led to the 21-year-old midfielder being linked with a transfer move away from West Ham. Manchester United are one club who have recently been linked with making a move for Rice.

Considering the 21-year-old’s consistent presence in the side and impressive performances this season, it may be understandable for some West Ham fans to fear over the possibility of losing Rice to clubs such as Manchester United, who are currently competing higher up the Premier League table.
