Fans of West Ham United have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays comments made by Tony Cottee, who states his belief that the Hammers should sign QPR’s Eberechi Eze and Brentford’s Ollie Watkins this summer.
Eze, who is currently valued at £9 million (via Transfermarkt), has been in exceptional form for QPR this season, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists for the Hoops in his 36 Championship appearances, averaging a remarkable WhoScored rating of 7.41.
This is a significant improvement on the 21-year-old’s performances from last season, in which the attacking midfielder scored four goals and provided three assists, averaging a less impressive 6.70 WhoScored match rating over his 42 matches.
It is no surprise, then, that interest has increased in Eze, and former West Ham striker Tony Cottee has recently stated that he believes the Hammers should be prioritizing a move for the England U21 international, as well as Brentford’s Ollie Watkins, in a recent Q&A on Twitter.
In reaction to Cottee’s comments, West Ham fans have taken to social media, with many simply stating their delight at the prospect of signing Eze, while others claimed that it was time to move other members of the West Ham squad on.

Eberechi Eze should be a target for West Ham this Summer as an absolute priority – incredible potential and already showing signs of the skill and impact as to what it takes to be successful in the PL. Eze is young and would improve the midfield options as a result of signing.

Hard to disagree. Young Englishmen from the championship over foreign mercenaries every day of the week.

What do we think?
Eze would undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the West Ham squad, with the 21-year-old’s versatility meaning that he can operate on the left, centre and right of attacking midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation, as well as the across the midfield in a 4-4-2 system, having played in all six positions for QPR this season.
