Some West Brom fans have been commending Filip Krovinovic on social media following Tuesday’s FA Cup fixture versus Newcastle United.

The Baggies bowed out of the 2019/20 FA Cup following a 3-2 loss to Newcastle United. Despite coming up on the short end of Tuesday’s FA Cup fixture, some West Brom supporters have taken solace in Filip Krovinovic’s performance versus Premier League opposition.

The 24-year-old Croatian playmaker appeared as a 57th-minute substitute, replacing Gareth Barry. The Baggies trailed their Premier League opponents by a scoreline of three goals to nil when Krovinovic was introduced to the game. However, the 24-year-old playmaker’s contributions helped his side to attempt a comeback in the latter stages of this game, with the Baggies scoring their two goals in the 74th minute and 92nd minute.

It may be fair to say that Krovinovic produced an impressive display during his time on the pitch. The 24-year-old made a total of three key passes, which is the second-highest number of key passes that were made by any West Brom player in this game, trailing only Kyle Edwards, who made four

The Croatian also completed two successful dribbles and hit the target with one of his two shots at goal in his attempts to help West Brom try and mount a comeback in Tuesday’s game.

Some Baggies supporters have been calling for the club to sign Krovinovic on a permanent deal, following the loanee’s impressive performance on Tuesday. Read the positive reactions from some West Brom fans to Krovinovic’s performance versus Newcastle in the tweets below.

What do we think?

Upon signing for the Baggies on loan last summer, the Express and Star reported that there was no option to buy the Croatian playmaker included in the deal. However, the 24-year-old’s impressive form in recent weeks may lead to some Baggies supporters calling for the club to ensure the Croatian makes a permanent transfer to The Hawthorns in the summer.

Krovinovic has been enjoying a positive run of form lately for the Baggies, earning an overall rating of 6.9 or higher in seven of his last eight Championship fixtures, according to WhoScored.com. The 24-year-old may have been endearing himself to Baggies supporters with his impressive displays on the pitch lately.

Tuesday’s display versus Newcastle United may have led to some Baggies supporters deciding that the club may need the Croatian, who is currently valued at £3.6 million (according to Transfermarkt.co.uk), should the current Championship leaders achieve promotion to the top flight.
