Spurs fans have been reacting to the latest news on Eric Dier, which suggests that the 26-year-old is likely to be handed a ban.
The England international climbed into the stands in order to confront a ‘fan’ following Spurs’ FA Cup penalty defeat against Norwich City earlier this month, and according to The Athletic (via Talking THFC), he is likely to be banned for ‘bringing the game into disrepute’. However, since he didn’t actually hit anyone, a stronger punishment seems unlikely at this time.
Dier has impressed as a centre-back in recent games, earning a 7.55 rating for his performance against Norwich, which is a significant improvement on his average rating of 6.63 in the Premier League so far this season. Since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2014, the versatile defender has gone on to make 169 appearances in the top flight for the North London club.
Did Dier really bring the game into disrepute?

If Eric has brought the game into disrepute then what has the fan responsible for the foul mouth abuse done for the game. He should get a very long ban. I for one get sick of foul language at games, it’s not clever it’s just disgusting behaviour. Constant foul language eject them

These Spurs fans are clearly not impressed with the latest news on Dier, with many suggesting that the 26-year-old doesn’t deserve to be banned.
What do we think?
Dier is perhaps lucky that the fan he was confronting decided to run off, otherwise, he could have been facing a much more significant punishment from the FA. In this case, you feel that a fine would perhaps be enough but it seems as if Dier’s actions will result in even more selection problems for Jose Mourinho.
