Spurs fans were shocked to see their club being linked with a move for Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Italian news outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi (via Ricky Sacks), the North London club are keen on the signing of the Croatian defender this summer. The 30-year-old could well prove to be a replacement for Jan Vertonghen, who looks likely to leave this summer when his Spurs contract expires.

So far this season, Lovren has made just nine appearances in the Premier League and has averaged an impressive 7.14 rating for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The former Southampton defender suggested in 2018, when Croatia reached the World Cup final and Liverpool reached the Champions League final, that he should be considered as one of the world’s best defenders, although Joe Gomez has often started ahead of the 30-year-old so far this season.

How well do you remember Spurs' run to the Champions League final last season? - Which of these teams weren't in Spurs' group?

These Spurs fans clearly aren’t keen on the potential signing of Lovren in the summer transfer window.

What do we think?

Lovren is an experienced Premier League defender; having played 161 games in the top flight in his career, but it would certainly be a strange transfer if Jose Mourinho were to bring in the £18million-rated man.
