Spurs fans have been reacting to reports linking them with a move for OGC Nice right-back Youcef Atal in the summer transfer window.

According to French news outlet Le Foot (via The Spurs Web), the North London club are very interested in bringing in the Algerian international ahead of next season. So far this season, the 23-year-old has averaged an impressive 7.15 rating across 12 appearances in Ligue 1, but last featured in December, after requiring surgery on his knee.

The defender is currently valued at £22.5 million by Transfermarkt and would certainly add an attacking impetus to Spurs’ side if he were to join the Lilywhites, having contributed an impressive seven goals in just 44 games for the French side. He has also featured regularly as both a right-midfielder and a right-winger in his time at Nice, suggesting that he is very attack-minded.

What do we think?

It is interesting that a lot of Spurs fans are keen on a new right-back, considering that Serge Aurier has been their third-best performing player so far this season – but with Kyle Walker-Peters seemingly on his way out, they may need to strengthen their options in that position.
