Spurs fans have been reacting to the news that an agreement is close for Japhet Tanganga to extend his contract with the North London club.
According to Football Insider (via Ricky Sacks), Spurs have been in negotiations with the 20-year-old centre-back and believe that an agreement is close. The report suggests that although the Lilywhites have already triggered a 12-month extension on the academy graduate’s contract, which saw his deal extended until June 2021, a new long-term contract with a bumper pay rise has now been offered.
The youngster made his Premier League debut in the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool, where he impressed; earning a 7.38 rating for his performance. Since then, the defender has made a further 10 appearances in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side and has continued to impress; averaging a 7.00 rating across his six performances in the top flight.
Can Tanganga be Vertonghen's long-term successor?

These Spurs fans are clearly delighted with the news on Tanganga’s new contract.
What do we think?
It can only be good news for Spurs that Tanganga is seemingly willing to sign a long-term deal and perhaps the 20-year-old can prove to be Jan Vertonghen’s successor, with the Belgian defender looking likely to leave this summer when his contract expires.
