Some Southampton fans have been talking about the latest transfer speculation surrounding their central defender Jannik Vestergaard.
It has recently been suggested by FootballInsider247 that the Saints are willing to listen to offers for the towering central defender. The report states that the club are looking for around £20million for Vestergaard to recoup all the fee they paid to sign him in the summer of 2018.
Is Vestergaard worth £20million?
Not a chance
Of course he is
Read Southampton relayed this piece of news on Twitter and asked fans about whether the defender should be sold or not. The fans made it clear the fee in question is too high for Vestergaard. But others were happy to see him leave.
There’s no way we’ll get £20 million ! Definitely needs to go though I’m afraid. Been very disappointing.

Phew! For a minute I thought we were gonna have to pay the buyer £21M to get rid of him….#Saintsfc

We’ll be lucky! Can’t see anyone paying £20m for Vestergaard.

I’d happily let him go on a free transfer. £20m is an absolute rip off!

This season, Vestergaard has made a total of 16 appearances in all competitions this season. He has scored once so far, with that strike coming against Manchester United.
What do we think?
Vestergaard has been dribbled past once per game in the Premier League this season. It is more than Jack Stephens and Jan Bednarek and it shows that he hasn’t had the best of seasons.
Southampton have been linked with a move for Mohammed Salisu in recent months and the defender has a release clause of £10.2 million, making him a potentially attractive signing. If Vestergaard is moved on, they might not have problems replacing him.
Considering Leicester were linked with Vestergaard in January, selling him and bringing Salisu in won’t be a bad idea, considering the Real Valladolid man’s price.
