Some Leicester City fans have been praising Nigel Pearson on social media, as the Foxes prepare to meet their former manager in Premier League action this weekend.
Pearson, who was appointed as manager of Watford back in December, enjoyed two separate spells as manager of Leicester City. Pearson’s first tenure as manager of Leicester began in July 2008 and ended in June 2010. The manager guided the Foxes to promotion from League One to the Championship as league winners in the 2008/09 season.
Following his exit from the club in June 2010, Pearson subsequently joined Hull City from July 2010 until November 2011, before returning to Leicester City for a second spell as manager, which lasted from November 2011 until June 2015.
In his second spell as Leicester City boss, Pearson helped the club to secure promotion to the Premier League in the 2013/14 season, by finishing top of the Championship. Pearson subsequently guided Leicester to a 14th-placed finish in the 2014/15 Premier League season, before being sacked in June 2015, prior to their famous 2015/16 Premier League-winning season.
While Pearson left the summer before Leicester won the Premier League, some Foxes supporters have recently been praising Pearson on social media for the contributions that he made to the club during his time as manager. nigel built the team, Ranieri added the finishing touch.
no if nige was manager I don’t think we would have won, but all credit for putting the players together.— Daz Leicester (@Daz_Leicester) March 11, 2020
Nigel built the team but couldn’t handle the media pressure of the prem as shown by the ostrich incident. He is a class manager

He started the momentum he has to be given a lot of credit, Ranieri still had a lot of work to do to ease new players in and organise the side to play resolute counter attacks effectively, freeing Mahrez and Vardy, but Pearson kickstarted our form that we had nothing to lose

No it would not have

Big nige laud the foundations and the team spirit Claudio kept that and won us the title. In the 2nd season Claudio sacked long term coaches and staff and brought his own in. Changed the tactics too fast didn’t slowly bend them ultimately putting us in a relegation battle.

What do we think?
While Pearson was sacked in the summer of 2015, it may be fair to say that he played a significant role in Leicester’s journey to winning the Premier League.
Having achieved two promotions with Leicester, it may be fair to say that Pearson deserves credit for helping the club to achieve their 2015/16 Premier League win.
