Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been the subject of a recent discussion on Twitter regarding whether or not he came close to earning legendary status at Anfield.
The former England international left Anfield in the summer to join Turkish side Trabzonspor on a free transfer, and here’s what some of the club’s fans have had to say regarding the question posed.
No, I love Studge, but we shouldn’t throw the title legend around too much.

No way.

Nope . Shanks would not have looked twice at him when injured.

A great player, but Legend? No. Nowhere near. Wasn’t at all consistent and went missing on occasion.

No, loved him but to be classed as a legend at Liverpool you need to be a brilliant player that has spent a good portion of his career at the club

Legend should only be used for players like Dalglish, Hansen, Gerrard.. Although Torres and Suarez were world class and Sturridge was a top top player, they are not Liverpool legends

Not even close to a legend. The lad was injured more than he played. Class player on his day but unfortunately his body couldnt handle it.

Didn’t know club legends were now basically non 1st teamers.
?He had one REALLY GOOD season for us…. ONE.

What do we think?
Liverpool signed Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea back in January 2013 for a reported fee of £13.5m according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. The 30-year-old went on to make 160 appearances, score 68 goals and provide his teammates with 26 assists.
He made 26 appearances in an England shirt, scoring eight goals and recently had his contract with Trabzonspor terminated (via The Sun) potentially opening the door for a Premier League return – though he is banned from all football-related activity until June due to his recent breach of betting rules.
It’s clear from the responses above that these supporters aren’t willing to credit Sturridge with legendary status and refuse to put him in the same league as the likes of Steven Gerrard, Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen.
