Liverpool fans on Twitter have been suggesting the club make a move for Napoli forward Dries Mertens this summer.
This comes after Liverpool news Twitter account @AnfieldWatch shared a post on their official page of a lits of footballers that have expiring contracts this summer (via FourFourTwo).
As well as Mertens, the list included names such as Edinson Cavani, Layvin Kurzawa, Mario Gotze, Willian, Ryan Fraser and Thomas Meunier.
Would you take Dries Mertens on a free transfer this summer?
Yes
No
The page then asked its followers which of these players would they take at the club this summer.
The post then gathered lots of replies from Liverpool fans who chose Mertens as a player they think would be a good fit at their club.

In 562 club appearances throughout his career, the 32-year-old has scored 216 goals and provided 164 assists, with 121 of those goals coming in 311 appearances for current club Napoli (per Transfermarkt). Now that Mertens has been suggested as a player that could be signed on a free transfer, this has opened the door for many Liverpool fans to make their minds up on which player they would like to see at Anfield next year.

Mertens isn’t leaving, but he’d help our progress in Europe since he can’t score against us.

What do we think?
Whether any of the suggested players will be making moves away from their respective clubs this summer is still unknown, but the fact that Mertens has been chosen out of them all for a move to Liverpool just goes to show how impressed the fans are with him.
