Liverpool are interested in signing Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakirm, according to Takvim (via Sporx.com). A Sport Witness article claims the Turkish outlet are reporting that the Reds have been in contact with their former defender Martin Skrtel in order to get his views on the 23-year-old.

The Slovakian was reportedly highly complimentary of the ‘keeper, and the Turkish Super Lig club are confident their stopper is worth in excess of €17m (£15.5m). The report claims that Liverpool were planning on sending a scout to watch their fixture versus Basaksehir this week, but that was cancelled due to the viral outbreak in Turkey.

TIF Tactics – A replacement for Adrian?

The Anfield giants were recently eliminated from the UEFA Champions League thanks in part to Adrian’s costly error, therefore, Jurgen Klopp could well be on the lookout for an upgrade on the Spaniard, as suggested by Sport Witness. Cakir has made 25 league appearances so far this season and has conceded 27 goals. He’s kept just four clean sheets, but his Trabzonspor side currently find themselves leading the division, ahead of the likes of Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

Who were Liverpool scheduled to play this Monday?

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the Turkish international goalkeeper is valued at £7.2m, but the report claims his club are confident of being able to command a much larger fee for their man. However, the Premier League season could be extended into the summer, and therefore the transfer window still feels a long way away.
