Fans of Everton have been reacting on social media to a post by Andre Gomes, in which the midfielder reflects on his first appearance back at Goodison Park following his return from injury.
Gomes, who signed for Everton from Barcelona last summer, suffered a fractured dislocation to his right ankle during Everton’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham in November.
However, remarkably, Gomes returned to the pitch during Everton’s 3-2 defeat against Arsenal last month, just 112 days and 16 league matches after suffering his horrific injury.
The 26-year-old went one step further on Sunday, starting the fixture against Manchester United which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Following the match, Gomes posted on Twitter: “What a feeling to be back at home, to play again in Goodison Park. Thanks for your incredible support. We deserved much more against a top side. Time to look forward to the next fight!”
In reaction to his post, Everton fans flocked to Twitter to congratulate the £25.2 million-rated midfielder on his return.

What do we think?
The incredibly quick thinking of Everton club doctor John Hollingsworth is the primary reason for the Portuguese international’s remarkably quick return to the football pitch, as the Everton doctor reset Gomes’ dislocated ankle while he remained on the pitch at Goodison Park.
This contributed towards Gomes receiving surgery the following day, and ultimately starting his recovery just weeks after suffering the horrific injury.
