Supporters of Everton have been deciding the transfer value of Mason Holgate in the current market on social media.
Following the club’s announcement that the English defender had signed a new five-year deal to stay with the club until 2025 (as per Everton), supporters discussed the current value of the 23-year-old (via The Gwladys Street).
Huge improvements made this season, only 23 years of age, a new contract till 2025 and centre back prices at a all time high.
Based on all these factors, how much is Mason Holgate worth in the current market? #EFC pic.twitter.com/ZcwI5s73Iy

Considering what Maguire went for, anything less than 60 is robbing ourselves

Do you believe that Mason Holgate will see out the whole five years of his new contract with the Toffees? No, a bigger club will buy himYes, he's here for the duration |
The Toffees secured the services of Holgate back in 2015 when the Goodison Park club paid an undisclosed fee to seal the, then, 18-year-old’s arrival from Barnsley (per BBC).
After one goal and three assists over 26 appearances in all competitions for Everton this term (per Transfermarkt), the Englishman has a market value of £6.3 million according to Transfermarkt, though, fans valued Holgate at much greater fees.
£60m. Reason – he’s not the finished article yet. Would still need work to reach his potential. You would also need to consider this form has been less than a season old at this level.
Plenty of potential & ability to play RB however justifies his price.— We Love You Everton (@you_everton) March 4, 2020
At least £50m now and when he gets his national team debut, £70m+

I’d say around 40 mil

Not as much as he’s worth to us atm. He’s responding to @MrAncelotti and is 23. I’d want a big name replacement in before even considering it. The lad has had all sorts of mayhem going off in front of him at times. Reckon he’s got more to come. Could be a keeper for me

Wouldnt sell him for 60 million put it that way.. Quality, versatile and definitely our future long-term captain. What a spine we potentially have if we keep our current crop and add to it!!

What do we think?
According to a recent report, which was written prior to the contract signing, though, the club has valued Holgate at £40 million amid transfer interest from Manchester City (as per Football Insider).
Having been the Toffees’ seventh-best performer in the Premier League (as per WhoScored), it is perhaps clear to see why the club and supporters rate the Englishman so highly.
