Supporters of Everton have fumed after images of contentious incidents emerged on social media at the weekend.
After Newcastle United were awarded a penalty against Southampton (as per BBC), Everton became the only side not to have been awarded one in the league this season (per Transfermarkt), which led to fury after four images emerged where supporters felt they should have had one.

@FA i would be very enthusiastic to read a @GregOK @Paddy_Boyland piece examining this. Its a whopping difference in terms of penalties awarded to other teams and also VAR decisions. Lets get it in the spotlight

Proper explanation should be given as to how and why those 4 for starters weren’t given. As a club we just seem to accept this nonsense year after year

Nothing was ever said of that vvd on dcl, var had about a one second look at it!!

The Walcott one was simply unbelievable. Cut and dried. No debate. Ref had clear view from 10 yards away.

Is the number of penalties that Everton have been awarded conclusive of some kind of conspiracy?Yes, there's an agenda against usNo, it has just been some bad luck |
Despite the fury over not having been awarded a penalty so far this season, the Toffees were awarded the seventh-most penalties last season (per Transfermarkt) and the second-most penalties the season previous to that (per Transfermarkt).
However, while some supporters were angry about the stat, other supporters felt that even if they were to be awarded a penalty, there will only be one outcome.
And you can guarantee when we get one we will miss it #gylfi

I hope we’re all fully prepared for the fact then when we do get a penalty we will miss it.

What do we think?
Following Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s late disallowed goal against Manchester United (per BBC) it seems that Everton supporters will take any opportunity to be incensed by VAR.
With five teams having been awarded just one penalty in the Premier League this term (per Transfermarkt), there is not quite enough evidence to call supporters’ theories conclusive just yet.
