West Bromwich Albion fans have been fuming on Twitter to the latest news surrounding Brentford’s Said Benrahma.
This comes after Baggies journalist Steve Madeley shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that the Brentford winger “will not be punished for elbowing Hull’s Stephen Kingsley” at the weekend.
Madeley also claimed Benrahma will not be punished as the referee saw the incident, therefore no retrospective punishment will be given.
Should Benrahma have been given a three match ban?
Yes
No
The journalist also mentioned how West Brom’s Matheus Pereira picked up a three-match ban for a similar incident last month.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Baggies fans who were unhappy that Benrahma escaped punishment and Pereira did not.
Here’s a sample of West Brom fans reacting to the post:
Brentford's Said Benrahma will not be punished for elbowing Hull's Stephen Kingsley on Saturday because the referee saw the incident.
Matheus Pereira got a 3-match ban.
The incidents looked equally bad. The process is horribly inconsistent. #WBA #WBAFC https://t.co/BUJ56W9lWF

So Gayle and Perreira get retrospective bans, but no one else seems to get this treatment. Not really fair is it?

It’s not inconsistent Steve – EFL always punish Albion and let everyone else off! Look at the evidence.

The referee spoke to Pereira so he must of seen that incident too. The inconsistencies of the efl are laughable

The post also saw Madeley describe the process of players getting retrospective bans as “horribly inconsistent” from the Championship authorities. After the post was shared, many West Brom fans were not shy in making their feeling known on Twitter about the issue.
A disgrace!

The inconsistency is an absolute joke in the @EFL and the @FA is disgrace. All any supporter wants is consistancy and at the moment there is none at all.

Pathetic nonsense from the EFL again Steve. If the ref did see it I assume he will be taken off the weekends matches while they establish why he didn’t see fit to produce a red card.

What do we think?
It comes as no surprise that these Baggies fans are not happy with the decision to not give Benrahma a three-match ban like Pereira was given that it was for a similar issue.
