The Tanzanian signed for the Birmingham club during the January transfer window for a fee of £9.45 million from KRC Genk (per Transfermarkt). After making his Premier League debut in Villa’s 2-1 defeat away at Bournemouth at the weekend, Samatta picked up his first goal for the club.
Despite losing the match, Samatta still picked up a match rating of 7.5, the second-highest of any Villa player on the pitch (per WhoScored). After seemingly settling into life in the Premier League, some Villa fans have been predicting how many goals the 27-year-old will finish the campaign on.
It looks as though some Villa fans are more confident than others – with a few backing the striker to bag as many strikes as injured teammate Wesley managed in the league, while one even thinks Samatta will reach Jack Grealish’s current total of nine goals before the season is out.

What do we think?
It seems as though most Villa fans are confident that their January signing has more to offer the club in the second half of the season. After hitting the ground running in terms of scoring goals in the Premier League, the hope now will be that Samatta can continue to do so as Villa aim to avoid relegation this season.
Though whether their predictions are blind optimism or a sign of incredible foresight remains to be seen ahead of Villa’s return to Premier League action at home to Spurs in 10 days’ time.
