Arriving for £6.48 million from Liverpool at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Ryan Kent’s price tag meant he had a lot to live up to after sealing a permanent move to Ibrox.
However, in 19 league appearances this season, the player has only managed to score six goals and has failed to register an assist. In fact, before last night’s match against Braga, Kent hadn’t scored a goal outside of league play.
One of the biggest highlights of his season was arguably his Old Firm goal. The player scored the opening goal against Celtic at Parkhead when Steven Gerrard’s side won 2-1.
His goal against Braga is just another case of the player showing up on the big stage. While many fans admit that he has been playing poorly recently, they can’t help but deny that he is capable of performing when it counts the most.
Ryan Kent has been poor recently. Not as poor as has been made out but still not been at it for a while. Think we can realise that is why you pay £7m for a guy like that. Got it in his locker in the big games when it really matters. Well played @ryankent

Ryan Kent is a big game player. He’s in a sticky spell but showed tonight the player we have. We need him to do it week in week out. He will be a great player for us. https://t.co/BYwXU3ngWN

Has Ryan Kent been worth his fee?
No
Yes
What do we think?
These Gers fans are clearly frustrated with what Kent brings to the team on a week-by-week basis. However, his performance against Braga suggests that he may have what it takes to become a Rangers great. A more consistent run of performances will surely justify his summer transfer fee.
