Fans of Millwall have been reacting on social media to their side’s 1-0 defeat to relegation-threatened Wigan on Saturday.
Play-off hopefuls Millwall went into the match occupying 10th place in the Championship, four points behind sixth-placed Preston North End, while opponents Wigan found themselves in 22nd place and three points from safety.
However, it was Wigan who emerged victorious from the encounter, after an Anthony Pilkington cross was inadvertently turned into the Millwall net by Lions defender Shaun Hutchinson.
The result puts a significant dent in Millwall’s play-off hopes, with the Lions now seven points off sixth-placed Preston.
Fans of Millwall have taken to social media in reaction to their side’s loss, with many stating that the Wigan result reflects previous poor performances against teams lower in the table.
A disappointing afternoon in Wigan.#Millwall

One fan even stated that the club shouldn’t be in a rush to expand the stadium, which relates to their reported plan.
I wouldn’t be in any rush to build a 34k seater stadium- we wont be needing it any time soon….

Mid table is where we are finishing, without winning against teams like Wigan, we have no chance of getting into the playoffs ?

Not a single player in that side has a winning mentality. I can almost guarantee when we conceded we started just lumping it up the pitch coz it’s all we ever do.

What do we think?
Gary Rowett has worked wonders since taking charge at Millwall, with the Lions’ 49 points so far this season already eclipsing their total of 44 last year.
If Rowett can improve on results against sides below them in the table over the next 12 games, then they still stand an outside chance of reaching the play-offs this term.
