This week, Charlton Athletic’s chairman Matt Southall sent out a message to fans via Twitter explaining that he was making it a priority to reconnect with fans. This comes just a month after the club changed ownership, which saw Southall transition into his position at the club.
It is safe to say that, from the fan reactions, the supporters are fully backing Southall. They appreciate his efforts to reconnect with the fans and believe their club has found its identity again. Some supporters are really looking forward to the future under the new chairman, and truly believe he will do big things for the club.
Can’t believe it’s only been a month, totally changed the atmosphere at the club. Thanks – onwards and upwards ?

I still can’t believe this has happened tbh after such a disastrous 5 years with RD it is so amazing to have our Charlton back. The club was shackled and stripped to the bones by the raving loon, but us fans stuck together and now we have the owners we have been dreaming of.

A Chairman who communicates with the fans and the local community… Almost forgot what that feels like after the last few years. Thanks Matt & East Street Investments for giving us our Charlton back. This journey is going to be a good one. #cafc

Is Matt Southall the right man for the Charlton Athletic chairman role?
Yes
No
What do we think?
The signing of Aiden McGeady on loan from Sunderland during January could be a serious sign of intent from Southall. If he is serious about adding improved talent to the squad then he could potentially lead the Addicks to the Premier League. It would be a huge ask, but a challenge we are sure he is up for.
