Some Celtic fans have been left to rave about the latest video involving their midfielder Scott Brown from their win over Motherwell.

Brown started in midfield against Motherwell on Wednesday night and the game saw Odsonne Edouard grab a brace. Brown’s fellow midfield partner Callum McGregor also got a goal, while Leigh Griffiths also scored in the second half.

But the game had a controversial incident when Brown’s foot was stamped on by Motherwell’s Chris Long.

Should Chris Long get banned for that tackle?

Yes, no question about it

A Hoops fan posted a video of the challenge on Twitter and it left many Celtic fans raging. They feel Long should have been sent off.

So far this season, it is a Motherwell player who has the worst disciplinary record in the Premiership. Their right-back Liam Donnelly has played 19 games in the Premiership, picking up 11 yellow cards and picking up one red card.

As per Transfermarkt, Motherwell are fourth-bottom when it comes to their fair play table by having picked up as many as 50 yellow cards so far. Celtic though, have the best disciplinary record in the division by having picked up only 27 yellow cards and receiving just one red card.

As for Brown, he has made 42 appearances in all competitions this season. He has a tally of four goals and one assist, having picked up a total of eight yellow cards.

What do we think?

The tackle does seem violent and it does seem deliberate at first sight, but the authorities will need further proof to make sure that Long was intentional in that regard. Celtic fans are entitled to their opinion and although it may be too early to make a fair judgment, they may give this incident extra scrutiny after Griffiths was caught in a stamping storm at the weekend.
