This week, Birmingham City’s Lee Camp was placed in the Sky Bet EFL Team of the Week. This news was shared by Birmingham City‘s official Twitter account. In this post, the Blues’ admin attached a photoshopped image of Camp holding a Ballon d’Or trophy (well, we think it’s photoshopped).
When the club shared the tweet, however, many BCFC fans were shocked. Not because they didn’t think he deserved it, but because he had been snubbed so many times before. This is only his first time being included in the EFL Team of the Week this season. They are just happy to see that he finally won it.
In the middle of our goal…..??

Another fan thinks his inclusion in the team proves that he is better than a long list of other top-class goalkeepers. We can’t argue with his Sherlock Holmes style of deductive reasoning.
Championship TOTW inclusions this season:-
Lee Camp – 1
Allison Becker – 0
Ter Stegen – 0
Ederson – 0
Oblak – 0
Neuer – 0
It’s Lee Camp’s world, we’re all just living in it https://t.co/D2lXIBm8AE— Declan (@DecDavis_) February 10, 2020
Who is the better goalkeeper?
Lee Camp
Alisson Becker
What do we think?
At the end of the day, this award won’t change anything regarding Birmingham City’s standing in the league or on-field performances. At most, it will give the goalkeeper a slight confidence boost, which, in all honesty, we don’t think he needs at all. The fans are fully behind him. Surely that’s all he cares about.
