Others question what this will mean for Kieran Trippier, who is currently playing at Atletico Madrid. The English full-back was sold by Pochettino to Atletico last July for £19.8 million. They reckon the player could be in for a shock if his old boss meets up with him again. The full-back has an average rating of 7.18 in La Liga this season, according to WhoScored, suggesting that he is playing well enough to keep his place, regardless of Pochettino’s arrival.

If Pochettino does make the move to Spain, it could be a great opportunity for him to wipe the slate clean. Who knows, maybe he is eager to work with Trippier again after gifting him 27 league appearances in the 2018/19 season.
