Spurs fans have been discussing Oliver Skipp after it was revealed that Jose Mourinho is reportedly a big fan of the 19-year-old midfielder.
According to Football.london (via COYS.com), the Portuguese manager rates the academy graduate highly despite his lack of minutes this season and has said that he will be a big player in the future for the North London club.
So far this season, the 19-year-old has made five substitute appearances and one start in the Carabao Cup, last featuring for Jose Mourinho’s side in the 3-1 defeat at Bayern in December.
The England U21 international made his senior debut for Spurs last season and now has 18 first-team appearances under his belt. Although he has not featured much recently, the report from Football.london suggests that Mourinho has really taken to Skipp and he could be in line for more regular football in the future.
Would you give Skipp a chance in the first-team?
Yes
No

Yes I can see him succeeding, but he needs game time soon – can’t let his progress stagnate, like KWP and Foyth. If he’s low in the pecking order he should have been loaned out second half of the season

If he’s not going to get game time then a loan would be good for his development. Needs to be a PL team though. He’s got great potential.

Because he works hard, gives everything and has committed himself to becoming a better player. Troy Parrott needs to learn from Skipp and Tanganga, and Kane and winks before them. Hard work and commitment gets you to the top.

Yes. Has a fantastic attitude and I liked him pre season.

Very good player. Dier should never start ahead of him again.

One thing Skipp gives is high energy pressing, something seriously lacking at the moment. Deserves a chance

He will be better than Winks. Not hard though.

These Spurs fans clearly feel as if Skipp either deserves a chance in the first team or should be loaned out to ensure his development isn’t stagnated.
What do we think?
Considering that both Harry Winks and Eric Dier have struggled to find form so far this season, whilst Tanguy Ndombele has serious fitness issues, it is perhaps a surprise that Mourinho hasn’t trusted Skipp with a start. However, he is still only 19, so perhaps Spurs fans will see a lot more of the £7.2 million-rated man in the future.
