Spurs fans have been discussing a stat on Eric Dier which states that the North London club have lost just three times when he has featured so far this season.
The stat was posted on Twitter and has baffled a lot of fans, who had perhaps rated Dier as one of the poorer players in Spurs’ squad. So far this season, the 26-year-old has averaged a disappointing 6.54 rating in all competitions and his recent place on the bench in important games against RB Leipzig and Chelsea suggests that Mourinho no longer rates the midfielder as highly as he did a few years ago; when he reportedly tried to sign him for Manchester United.
The England international has indeed only played a part in three of Spurs’ losses so far this season, which suggests that they may be slightly more defensively solid when he is in the side.
Do you think that Dier is scapegoated by Spurs fans?
Yes
No
However, it seems as if a lot of fans disagree that Dier has been ‘scapegoated’ and feel that the former Sporting Lisbon man simply isn’t good enough, as can be seen in the tweets from Spurs fans below.
He’s been as bad as the others though mate. He can’t get near people anymore. Grealish destroyed him last week when he tried to get tight

He’s awful tho, so sloppy in possession he’s always giving it away, way too big and slow for what he should be. Fazio turned quicker than him. Don’t get me wrong he was great for us a few years ago but he is nowhere near thst now

Who’s scapegoating him? Just watch the games, hes a shadow of 4 years ago

He’s useless every game .. worse player at the club..

He’s been pretty dreadful in general haha. Wasn’t doing too bad against Villa but he’ll never get back to the player he was unfortunately

I wish people would give up with these useless stats. Dier has been a passenger at best.

These Spurs fans clearly don’t want to pay too much attention to the stat on Dier, with many commenting that the England international is far from good enough.
What do we think?
Dier has really struggled this season and looks a shadow of his former self, notably in 2015/16 when he averaged an impressive 7.06 rating for his performances in the Premier League.
