Spurs fans have been reacting to an article from The Athletic on Troy Parrott and why he continues to be underused by Jose Mourinho.
The article, written by Charlie Eccleshare and David Ornstein, was shared with Spurs fans via Ricky Sacks on Twitter and suggests that one reason behind the 18-year-old’s lack of game time is his apparent poor mentality and immaturity. The youngster has made just one substitute appearance under Jose Mourinho – in December’s 5-0 win over Burnley – but hasn’t featured since, despite the long-term injury suffered by first-choice striker Harry Kane.
Despite his lack of appearances for the first team at Spurs, Parrott earned his first cap for the Republic of Ireland last year, starting for Mick McCarthy’s side in a 3-1 win against New Zealand. However, it seems as if he will continue to be left out of Mourinho’s side until his attitude improves.
Should Parrott be given a chance even if he isn't working for it?
Yes we need a striker
No he shouldn't play
Reaction from Spurs fans to the latest update on Parrott can be seen in the tweets below.
Exactly what I thought…
Shouldve stayed to train and really impress Mourinho rather than going off on holiday and acting immaturely

I think he’s trying to get sacked as quick as possible.

The part about his application is a worry. Mentality & maturity would come with game time that he won’t get until he knuckles down & shows he is ready & wants to play. Very strange as the club have just given him a new contract so is it really that bad?

It seems the trip to Dubai was fairly messy. He is 18 I guess and fairly rich already maybe this is shock tactics to get him to grow up. Shame about the loan falling through as he’ll miss out on the Euros now too

This is just getting weird…

These Spurs fans are seemingly split between wanting to see Parrott given a chance to show what he can do in the first team and others suggesting that Mourinho is right to ignore the 18-year-old until his attitude improves.
What do we think?
Perhaps if Mourinho acknowledged Parrott more and gave him a place on the bench with a bit more regularity, then the Republic of Ireland man would improve his attitude and work rate – but it is difficult to know everything that is going on behind the scenes.
