Alasdair Gold has revealed to Spurs fans that Victor Wanyama is very unlikely to remain at the North London club next season.

In a Q and A session with fans, the journalist answered questions on a variety of subjects, including the future of the Kenyan midfielder, who joined Spurs from Southampton in 2016. He was asked on Twitter about whether the former Celtic man’s time at Spurs is over, to which he replied in his article:

Gold states in his title: “I think it’s safe to say he won’t be here next season.”

He continued: “I do feel sorry for Wanyama. Knee problems have wrecked what looked set to be a great Spurs career. He was immense in that first season at the club alongside Dembele.

The problem now is offloading him because of his wages which are putting off suitors.

There has even been talk of Tottenham cancelling his contract because he’s just sitting there, struggling to get any game time.” (per Football.London)

TIF Tactics:

Wanyama was reportedly close to a loan move away during the January transfer window, but it collapsed due to concerns over his wage demands. The 28-year-old has made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season and it would perhaps be a surprise to see him feature again under Jose Mourinho.

Gold also suggested in his article that:

“Mourinho and the club would rather give minutes to an academy product like Oliver Skipp than Wanyama, which means he’s so far down the pecking order that unless there’s an injury crisis at Spurs he’s not going to feature.

Ultimately it’s down to the player to want to move on from this situation and that would mean compromising on his salary as Tottenham will happily let him go.”

The Kenyan midfielder has seriously struggled with injuries in the last few years at the North London club and does seem as if the £10.8 million-rated man has made his last appearance in a Spurs shirt.
