A lot of Newcastle United fans are stunned to hear that Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka was brought up as a Toon supporter.

According to the Daily Star, the 18-year-old claimed that he was taken to Old Trafford by his dad 10 years ago in the Newcastle away end.

Is Saka one of the best young players in the Premier League?

Saka said that his dad was a big Alan Shearer fan and therefore became a Newcastle supporter.

This has surprised many Toon fans who were not expecting the London-born player to be a Toon fan.

One other Newcastle supporter praised Saka for his breakthrough.

What do we think?

The 18-year-old tore Newcastle to shreds in the Gunners’ clash with the Magpies as he recorded an assist and earned an 8.38 rating from WhoScored.

Saka has played 27 first-team games for Arsenal this season, scoring three goals and providing nine assists.

This is even more impressive when considering he has played 13 of those matches as a left-back, having started the season in midfield or on the wing.

At just 18, Saka could become something special, but it does indeed seem odd that he appears to have been a Newcastle fan when he was younger.
