Leeds United’s promotion rivals Fulham managed to sneak past Swansea City in order to stay within grasp of Marcelo Bielsa’s side. The Swans were denied a penalty at Craven Cottage by the same referee who awarded Fulham one against the Whites back in December.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were beaten 2-1 in London that day and Tim Robinson, who has taken charge of 21 Championship fixtures so far this season was also the man in the middle on that occasion, with the referee giving Fulham the opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot.
Is Tim Robinson up to refereeing in the Championship?
Yes
No
These Leeds supporters took the opportunity to slam the referee after footage of the incident was shared on Twitter and word had spread of Robinson’s calls during the game.
Pretty much identical “foul” for both penalties he’s awarded too. Unbelievable.

Swansea are making a serious complaint over this

If this ref isn’t looked at, we’ll, the football league really is corrupt @EFL

I watched that game & yes neither were penalties. Awful officiating. I’m not surprised that it’s the same referee, he’s obviously a Fulham fan. He needs demoting to the conference league but the @EFL will do nothing of the sorts!!

That’s at least 4 penalties he has given this year where he just sees someone fall over and gives them a penalty despite no foul being committed, not a great advert for Championship referees

Was also responsible for the Brentford v Blackburn game last weekend which had a couple of very dodgy pens in it.

Watched the game on quest. Disgraceful refereeing and that was just the edited highlights. Swansea were definitely shafted in that game. Standard of reffing in the Championship is sub-par.

What do we think?
Robinson has taken charge of 14 Leeds United fixtures in his career, of which they have won six, drawn three and lost five (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). The standard of officiating, in general, is something that often crops up in conversation amongst football fans and in our view, based on the footage, Swansea City certainly had a case regarding the spot-kick they were denied on Wednesday night.
