A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to the Evening Chronicle’s post about Andy Carroll.
The Chronicle asked its readers if they would give the 31-year-old a new contract.
Would you give Carroll a new deal?
Yes, pay as you play
No, time to get rid
The response was mixed with some Toon fans adamant that the former West Ham man should not be given a new deal.
Would you hand Carroll a new deal? #NUFC https://t.co/JrKkaYHRg5

He’s had nearly 10 years of ‘freak’ injuries now, can Bruce not identify a pattern emerging? Nothinf against the lad but he’s waste of a space in the squad unfortunately. #NUFC

Whats the point , he’s not been fit for years ..instead of using a squad number up on a bargain basement crock ..spend some money on a proper striker ..

I wouldn’t have signed him in the first place. As is being proved, injured more than he plays. If he did re-sign then pay-as-you-play (in other words pay-when-you’re-fit) must come in to play.

No. He’s injured more than fit.

No.. I’d tell him to retire

Other Toon supporters, though, would be happy to see Carroll stay on a pay as you play deal.
If he plays more games yes as he is on pay as you play anyway? when he has been available he has been better than joelinton ?

Only on a literal ‘pay as you play deal’. No basic wage, only incentives. If he doesn’t make the team, he gets nothing.

No harm in a pay as you play contract… Would be a cheap one.. Mike Ashley loves a Zero hours contract.

What do we think?
Carroll’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and he is currently on a pay as you play deal.
Since re-joining his boyhood club, Carroll has made 14 appearances scoring no goals but providing three assists.
The Toon have also won six league matches that he has played in and lost five.
Carroll, who is valued at £3.6 million (Transfermarkt), is currently out with a hip injury, but it is hoped he will be back before the end of the season to try and earn himself a new deal for next year.
