Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has claimed Jurgen Klopp’s side only know one way to play, prompting quite the response from some of the club’s supporters. The 58-year-old was speaking on ESPN FC shortly after the final whistle when he and the rest of the panel dissected the narrow victory over West Ham United.
Nicol won four league titles and three FA Cups with the Reds and is regarded as one the club’s best-ever defenders as well as being ‘one of the most versatile footballers the game has ever seen’ (via liverpoolfc.com).
Does Steve Nicol have a point?
Yes
No
Here’s how some of the fans have reacted to the former Scottish defender’s comments.
If Liverpool have “Only one way to play” then it means the other 19 teams have had “Zero ways to stop us” so far.

Exactly the opposite. We are most versatile team in the league. Can play tiki-taka, counterattacking football and long ball as well.

What do we think?
Steve Nicol may be a Liverpool legend, but in the eyes of these fans, his opinions are totally invalid. He played 468 times and scored 46 goals for the club; therefore, as far as his experience goes, he’s as qualified as anybody, but in regards to his punditry, doubt over his suitability to the role seems at the very least fair.
